Volunteer opportunities at Mercy San Juan Medical Center
At Mercy San Juan Medical Center, we believe that one person can make a profound difference in the lives of others. That's a belief shared by our volunteers. Every day, these special volunteers assist our hospital and people throughout the community.
There are currently more than 300 active volunteers providing service to those in need at Mercy San Juan. Do you have time to give at least eight hours per month? We need caring, compassionate people who want to make a difference in someone's life. Join our team.
We have limited spaces for volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the Volunteer Services office at (916) 537-5298 before completing an application.
Mercy Guild
Anyone ages 21 and older may volunteer as a member of the Mercy San Juan Medical Center Guild. Volunteer options include the Gift Shop, Information/Surgery Desk, Personnel Services, Surgery Center and various other opportunities. The Guild also conducts fund-raisers to support patient care projects at Mercy San Juan. Guild Members volunteer Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This includes two shifts: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Adults who would like to give back to the community can volunteer in a variety of areas, including office support, Emergency Department (18 years and older), Family Birth Center and other areas of interest.
Juniors (15-17 years) may volunteer on the Oncology/Neurology floors, Medical/Surgical Units, Family Birth Center and various other areas. Mercy San Juan also provides scholarship opportunities for junior volunteers who have met certain criteria and plan to pursue a career in the healthcare field.
Beginning January 2011, all students and those seeking employment must include a $100 deposit with their application. The $100 deposit will be returned upon completion of being an active volunteer for one year (an active volunteer is someone who volunteers a minimum of two times a month for one year).
