Sacramento, CA | October 20, 2009 ~ Mercy San Juan Medical Center is celebrating its new 110 bed patient tower that will open in late December. Mercy San Juan's 142,000 square-foot tower includes 90 medical/surgical beds and 20 critical care beds. The lobby and patient care units spotlight the talents of local artists and photographers. The tower also marks the new entrance and lobby to the hospital, with a new 72-seat chapel providing the focal point for the faith-based campus.
As part of tonight's celebration, Bishop Jaime Soto will bless the building, followed by a vertical aerial dance performance by Project Bandaloop along the length of the new patient tower. Suspended in air, Project Bandaloop has performed at the New York Stock Exchange, the Space Needle in Seattle and Yosemite's El Capitan - among other sites nationally and internationally. This is the first time Project Bandaloop has performed in the Sacramento Area.
