Perinatology group brings services to Mercy hospitals
July 5, 2006, SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Medical Group and Mercy/CHW Sacramento have signed a contract that will expand high-risk pregnancy services offered to patients of the local Mercy hospitals and to families throughout Northern California.
The contract began Saturday, July 1. The Sacramento Maternal-Fetal Medicine perinatologists will provide in-house deliveries and accept maternal transfers at Mercy San Juan Medical Center. They will provide bedside consultations for high-risk patients at Methodist Hospital and Mercy General Hospital, and telephone consults to obstetric physicians at all six local Mercy/CHW hospitals.
"We have a shared vision to elevate the quality of care in the Greater Sacramento area for families dealing with high-risk pregnancies," says Gail Maduri, RN, Vice President of Mercy Women's & Children's Services.
Physicians who make up the Sacramento Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Medical Group are Lynn McLean, MD; Herman Hedriana, MD; Jan Lanouette-Conley, MD; and Hanns Haesslein, MD.
"Our group works hand-in-hand with pre-natal care providers to provide the best of care for women with high-risk pregnancies. We look forward to the opportunity to work with Mercy and the pre-natal care providers within their system," Dr. McLean says.
The six Mercy hospitals in the Greater Sacramento area (including Woodland Healthcare and Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital) deliver approximately 9,500 babies each year. For support of high-risk pregnancies, Mercy has two neonatal intensive care units - a 26-bed unit at Mercy San Juan and a 12-bed unit at Methodist.
