The Mercy Center for Breast Health is a unique service offering Sacramento-area women access to complete breast cancer diagnostic, treatment, education and support services in one comfortable, home-like environment.
The Mercy Center for Breast Health focuses on meeting the preventive health and treatment needs of today's busy woman. In our community, it can be frustrating just trying to schedule a routine mammogram. The Breast Center eliminates this frustration, providing easy access to mammography appointments, with flexible hours and rapid turnaround of test results.
In addition to mammography and ultrasound of the breast, the Mercy Center for Breast Health offers the latest in minimally invasive biopsy procedures. Using only a small incision, no stitches and local anesthesia, this modern technology, including sterotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsy, offers patients an alternative to traditional open-surgery biopsy. The procedure takes about an hour and does not require a hospital stay.
In the Dianne Haselwood Resource Center, patients can take advantage of a variety of educational materials. The Center offers patients computer access to related Internet sites, along with an extensive library of videotapes and printed materials providing information on preventive health measures. Information is also available on support groups and other related community services. Women diagnosed with breast cancer will receive a Breast Cancer Resource Binder filled with information on topics ranging from breast cancer diagnosis to treatment.
