The Neurovascular/Spine Unit at Mercy General Hospital specializes in caring for and treating patients undergoing various neurovascular and spinal surgeries. In addition, the most advanced care and medications are provided to patients diagnosed with acute stroke in coordination with the Stroke Research Team and the Stroke Team Clinical Specialist.
Our staff cares for approximately 125 patients annually with very complex global spinal surgeries. The Neurovascular/Spine Unit also handles more than 500 neurological, spine and vascular system surgeries annually. Patients are cared for by a highly-skilled, multidisciplinary team, including registered nurses, physical therapists and case managers. Our staff meets weekly with the entire team to address the care needs of each patient. Mercy's multidisciplinary team tailors a plan of care specific for each individual, thereby reducing the length of stay in the hospital and post-operative complications. Our staff is skilled in neurological assessment, pain control, and compassionate care.
