A Program for the assessment of Clinical Cancer Tests (PACCT-1): Trial assigning Individualized Options for the Treatment of Endocrine Responsive Breast Cancer

Trial Description:
This study is for patients who have breast cancer that is estrogen receptor and/ or progesterone receptor positive that has not spread to the lymph nodes. The study involves a diagnostic test called the ONCOTYPE DX test, which analyzes the tumor tissue that is taken at surgery. The test classifies the tumors into group using a recurrence score of: low, Intermediate or high risk of recurrence. Patients with a low recurrence score will receive hormonal therapy alone. Patients with high recurrence scores will receive chemotherapy and hormonal therapy. Patients with intermediate recurrence score will be randomized to receive hormonal therapy alone or chemotherapy plus hormonal therapy. The type of hormonal therapy and chemotherapy will be determined by the patient’s study doctor.

Patients:

  • Confirmed invasive breast cancer
  • ER and/or PR positive
  • Her-2 negative
  • Must have surgical treatment for the cancer
  • Age 18-75
