Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Advanced Wound Care

Mercy San Juan Medical Center is the only hospital system in the greater Sacramento area offering hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO). With more than 20 years of experience in both HBO and wound care, we emphasize the highest quality of care as we help patients with difficult wounds. Plus, with added staff and extended hours in our HBO and Wound Care Departments, Mercy San Juan is able to serve even more patients.

HBO has been proven effective and approved for the treatment of:
  • Air or gas embolism
  • Carbon monoxide poisoning and CO poisoning complicated by cyanide poisoning
  • Clostridal myositis and myonecrosis (gas gangrene)
  • Crush injury, compartment syndrome and other acute traumatic ischemias
  • Decompression sickness
  • Enhancement of healing in selected problem wounds
  • Exceptional blood loss (anemia)
  • Necrotizing soft tissue infections
  • Refractory osteomyelitis
  • Delayed radiation injury (soft tissue and bony necrosis)
  • Compromised skin grafts and flaps
  • Thermal burns

Each patient receives an individualized plan of care developed by our highly-skilled nursing staff in conjunction with our doctors and therapists. Patients must be referred by a doctor.
